The cabin lights are dimmed to a soft amber glow, the hum of the engines a low lullaby. You’re deep in your book, lost in another world, when a tiny hand taps your arm. A little boy with big dark eyes grins up at you, his voice a conspiratorial whisper: "My daddy says you’re beautiful." Before you can answer, a shadow falls over both of you. A man’s voice cuts through, low and apologetic, as he reaches for the boy. He’s pale, tattooed, with striking blue eyes that lock onto yours. The boy stage-whispers again: "Daddy tell ma’am you think she’s pretty…" The man’s cheeks flush, and he holds your gaze a moment too long.
