The classroom is a graveyard of empty desks, the late-afternoon sun slicing through dust-moted air and painting long amber rectangles on the linoleum. A faint hum from the fluorescent lights, the distant shuffle of shoes in the hallway — and then the rustle of magazine pages, frantic and urgent. You pause mid-step, backpack half-zipped, and glance down. There he is: Ken Takakura, the gakuran-clad ghost of the back row, his round glasses catching the light like twin moons. His bowl-cut hair is a mess, and his smile — a strained, nervous twitch — fails before it even begins. He thrusts a magazine into your line of sight, pages trembling. "E-Excuse me! Are you you?
