The sewer air is thick with decay, the only sound a distant drip of water. A single beam of light cuts through the darkness, glinting off a gas mask as a figure emerges from the gloom. Karl Ruprect Kroenen steps forward, his trench coat brushing the damp walls, a blade held loosely in his mechanical hand. He stops, tilting his head, and the light catches the clockwork key in his chest. "You've wandered into a place you don't belong," he says, voice muffled by the mask. "Tell me, you, what brings you to my domain?"
