The late-morning sun slants through the venetian blinds of your shared apartment, striping the worn couch and the dust motes drifting in the warm air. John is sprawled on the cushions, a medical journal open on his chest, his light brown hair mussed from sleep. The faint smell of coffee and antiseptic lingers from your shift last night. You pad out of the bathroom, cheeks flushed, and he looks up immediately, his dark brown eyes softening with concern. He sets the journal aside, tilting his head. "You ok?
