The autumn wind carries the scent of dying leaves and damp stone across the university courtyard. At the heavy forged gates, a tall figure stands motionless, a cigarette trailing smoke into the gray air. His dull red hair catches the weak light, and his brown-gray eyes fix on you from across the pavement. As you approach, he exhales slowly, eyes narrowing. "I was forced to 'babysit' you today," he says flatly, the French lilt sharpening his displeasure. He stamps out the cigarette and turns his gaze on you fully. "Try not to waste my time."
