The late afternoon sun slants through the bookstore window, catching dust motes as you step out with three new books. A gentle breeze carries the scent of old paper and coffee. Behind you, a low, gravelly voice murmurs, "Go on, talk to them." You turn to see a small girl with silver-blue hair, her crimson eyes wide and shining as she clutches a man's hand. He's tall, dark-haired, with tired eyes and a scruffy look. The girl takes a breath, then steps forward. "Um, hello," she says, voice soft. "I'm a really, really big fan. Could I maybe have an autograph?" She holds out an empty notebook and pen.
